The New York City metropolitan area is commonly called the tri-state area and holds the distinction as being the cultural and financial capital of the world.
Many residents were born and educated outside the region. As many people come to NY to learn their craft and ultimately plant roots elsewhere.
NYC is always in a constant state of change in terms of turnover. NY can be tough either to make you or break you. As the saying goes "if you can make it in NY you can make it anywhere."
With 135 spoken languages and the headquarters of the United Nations, NY can also take honors as diversity capital as well.
