News from the African Continent

As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives. Henry David Thoreau

Just a Thought

FACT: There are 54 countries on the continent of Africa, with many languages as well as various dialects. The predominant languages are English, French, and Spanish. Africa has been blessed with natures awe inspiring beauty, natural resources, and an abundance of wildlife, making it a must see travel destination on your bucket list. This continent is close to my heart.

There's a fast emerging economy on the continent, with China as the benefactor. Why China? Well when all other countries largely ignored Africa, and failed to see growth opportunities, China stepped up to create thriving economical and reciprocal partnerships. The result has been a boom in creating jobs, supplying goods and services, and increasing the gross domestic product, not to mention a fantastic return the benefactor's investment. Leading the pack economically and culturally are the countries of Nigeria, followed closely by South Africa, and Ghana.

Undoubtedly, these partnerships have been very beneficial. Unfortunately, the appearance of monopolies in some countries (due to the lack of competition with exclusive contracts) affects the quality of accessibility especially in the fields of cable and communication.

Many African's have sought, embraced, and achieved secondary education as well as other cultural opportunities to enhance their lives. This is the norm that's expected in any society but this fact has gone largely unnoticed with respect to Africa. The stigma of some preconceived notions still persists and clouds some people's perception of what they actually think Africa is. Ignorance is bliss!

My interactions have been with those who came from the shanty townships of the 1990's and received their college degrees to become ranking Diplomats. This illustrates just how far things have changed in a short period of time. Although, some issues do exist (the focus of mainstream news outlets) as you see, that's not the BIG picture at all. Africa has progressed and is well on the way to becoming the next major player on the global stage. The curating of these publications are to provide you with new prospective and insight.
